Luffy has two fighting styles at his disposal, and can acquire new skills by gathering resources. On the other hand, it is strange to be able to switch to a “scan” view that highlights characters and collectibles, mostly because it is difficult to match Luffy’s many skills. For example, the movements in the various settings have been made lean and fast through the use of Luffy’s extendable hands, which act as a grapple to reach the highest edges. Without wishing to be too strict, it is likely that the battle mechanics have been designed to ensure greater accessibility to a young audience. Furthermore, always in a very basic way, there is a stealth mechanic that allows you to take enemies by surprise, not really ready to understand where you are. Luffy can fight in two different ways: the first favors defense, the other speed, but we are light years away from an adequate combat system.

The guys from Ganbarion, developers of the title, however, have distorted their vision compared to the old Musou genre titles dedicated to the Oda pirates, and have reduced everything to a series of very simple key combinations to press in the right sequence. In both the main and secondary missions, the only important thing will be to beat Luffy’s rubbery hands, as well as wandering around to talk to some NPCs. Unfortunately, the World Seeker structure does not allow for particular interactions. The beauty of World Seeker is being able to meet famous characters from the series, and take away the satisfaction of beating them once again. Our character will always and only be on Luffy, who with them will spend at most some useful dialogue to proceed in the main story. The Straw Hat crew is in fact complete, although after having found them all following the accident, we will never be able to put on their shoes. Of course there are also all the goodies. However, in the end we will also meet them, from simple officers like Smoke to more powerful Admirals like Borsalino. Isaac on the other hand, however much he tries, is incomparable compared to the legendary villains of the comic or anime. The design of these characters, perhaps precisely because supervised by the same mangaka, is in line with expectations: Jeanne follows the typical female figure of One Piece, sensitive but combative, as well as with a perfect silhouette. In fact, we will have the task of leading the revolt against Isaac by helping the beautiful Jeanne, a new character that we will meet on the island of Jail Island.
